Big Brother

He will be THE best big brother ever. He's so anxious about her arrival. He asks questions and says things such as...

"When you're at work and I am in school next year, who will keep Leighton?"
"Will Leighton be here when I'm in the 20th grade?"
"Can Leighton sleep in my room?"
"Daddy, you won't be able to have tickle fights with Leighton. You'll break her."
"Mom, can I share this food with Leighton when she's a baby?"
"Mom, where will Leighton poop and pee?"

I'm quite possibly more excited about Cannon getting to be a big brother than I am about any other aspect of this baby.
There's so many positives about the age difference between these two, which will be just at 7 years.

Cannon is incredibly independent. As soon as he learns to tie is stink'n shoes, I will be able to say he's 100% independent in the mornings before school. I turn his shower water on - but past that he showers, towels off, gets dressed, takes his dirties to the laundry room, and brushes his teeth. I haven't "let go" of combing his hair for him yet and most mornings I cook his breakfast - but he's content fixing himself a bowl of cereal as well.

In addition, we'll get to enjoy the "firsts" all over again while enjoying everything Cannon continues to be involved in. They'll always been in such different places in life. There also won't be the level of competition that would be there if they were closer in age or if they were both boys.

Just as I am so excited to watch Cannon become a big brother, I can't wait to see Lance father a little girl. Raised with a brother and a mother who was a true "boy-mom", having a little girl steal his heart will be quite the show.

Praise God for our growing family.
