Cannon knows we have Christmas because we are celebrating Jesus' birthday. Jesus is so gracious and generous he lets us all exchange gifts for his birthday. Santa Claus is one of Jesus' helpers and he delivers all of His gifts for Him.
In addition to counting down the days to Christmas with random acts of kindness towards others, this year we enjoyed the talking gingerbread boy compliments of Granny Carol. You can see him there on the right. He was motion activated and Cannon had everyone of his little "sayings" memorized in no time. Elsie the Elf was another highlight this year as he was found in a bag of chips, sticky faced from a candy cane, and stuck in the window blinds one morning before school. Here's Cannon's annual gift for Santa - minus the banana bread he wanted to leave but ate instead!

And even though he was amazed to find the empty bowl on the ground the next morning, he still made daddy lift him up to see if anything was left on the roof. ;-)
We spend Christmas morning in our own home as we have the last 4 years, but we certainly enjoyed seeing our families in the days surrounding Christmas day. My parents came to town the weekend before Christmas and after I finished three more days of school, our Christmas vacation officially began!
Lance's brother's twins, Andrew and Gia, spent Christmas eve with the Lemberg family - so instead of having them travel to see extended family, we decided to stay in town this year and have the Lemberg Christmas at my in-laws on Christmas eve. It was great to have Cannon and his cousins together opening gifts!
Aside from the traditions we've built in our own home, my priority during our break is seeing family and friends, and the resting and recharging before we head back in to the 2nd semester. Spending one on one time with Cannon and making up for lost time since summer is something else we enjoy doing. Next year we'll have a whole new little bundle of joy to share the holidays with.
Watching your children and enjoying them while they're little is priceless. They too will grow up, start families, and enjoy their little family traditions. I chose to treasure mine while we have them.
I pray your Christmas was a time of family, friends, and love. I pray the New Year, 2012, brings you and yours bliss.
